An article on New York Times, From Founders to Decorators, Facebook Riches, investigated who was set to benefit from Facebook’s IPO. This article caught my attention because David Choe, a graffiti artist, was about to make millions of dollars. I have always followed Choe’s work so I was elated when my brother-in-law gave me one of his prints for Christmas in a heavy black portfolio with a gold skull and ‘Choe’ on the cover. Now that Choe is getting so much publicity for his stock in Facebook, I expect the value of the print to rise.
Choe accept stock in Facebook in 2005 as payment for murals in did in Facebook’s HQ. He chose the stock instead of $60k – he said he “likes to gamble”, even when he (and many others) thought Facebook was a joke.
This is not the print I have but it’s one I really like, titled “Tokyo Girl”.
